Intel Northwest Science Expo Special Awards
Businesses, professional associations, government agencies, and nongovernmental organizations sponsor awards in areas of interest to them. Recognition given has included: cash prizes, scholarships, memberships, certificates, medallions and invitations to meetings. Examples of awards that have been given include: best geology project, best 6th grade project, best use of statistics, best project using a computer and many more. Awards may be targeted to encourage students to perform research in an area of interest to the sponsor. Over a couple of years this usually has an effect on student research topics.
